Rebuilding Together Howard County has a number of standing committees that help to make Rebuilding Day a reality every year. Each committee handles a unique aspect of the planning process. If you would like more information on these committees or how to get involved with them or other aspects of Rebuilding Together Howard County, please Contact Us. List of Committees:
This committee makes the initial home inspections to determine if the home and the financial situation fits within the Rebuilding Together mission. The homes recommended by the first group are submitted to the Board. If there are any that the Board feels should not be done they are eliminated. Then a second inspection is made to determine what skills and materials are needed to repair each home. During the second inspection photographs are taken that are used by sponsors to select the home their organization will work on. After the second inspection the Board will make the final determination of the homes to be rehabilitated on work day. This committee acts as a liaison between the sponsorship groups and the Board. This committee will identify potential sponsors and recruit sponsors. This committee works with the Safety Committee to prepare House Captains for what to expect on work day, as well as answer any House Captain questions. This committee prepares materials request booklets that are filled out by House Captains for their particular houses. When the House Captains return their material request forms, the committee reviews the materials request and assembles the materials. The committee also provides guidance on what materials are available and where else House Captains may look to obtain needed materials. This committee is charged with identifying skilled tradesmen that will either donate their labor or provide it to Rebuilding Together at a reduced cost. Jobs that need skilled tradesmen are identified and tradesmen are coordinated to work on these homes. This committee works through the schools of Howard County to provide an opportunity for students to participate on work day. They coordinate the bus companies and student safety information and waivers to ensure that students are able to travel to work sites and work safely. This committee plans the annual volunteer thank-you picnic that occurs each Rebuilding Day. They coordinate food donations from local restaurants and food suppliers, secure the pavilion, and coordinate both set-up and clean-up for the picnic. This committee drafts a proposed budget to be presented to the Board. This commmitee is comprised of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and any committee chairperson seeking a budget item. This committee develops and produces all printed materials and the online presence for Rebuilding Together Howard County. The also coordinate press releases and public service announcements to promote both the organization and its work. This committee identifies and recruits new Board members and may work to enhance the effectiveness of the current Board through seminars or speakers. This committee does any hiring of staff and will also prepare a recommendation for the annual review of the staff to be presented to the Board for approval. This committee also presents the review to the staff.
